How to use Unsigned drivers in Windows 8 and 8.1

64-Bit editions of Windows require digitally signed drivers. The problem is that many devices ship with unsigned drivers. Today, we’ll show you how to install them regardless.

Digitally signed drivers include an electronic fingerprint that indicates which company the driver was produced by as well as an indication as to whether the driver has been modified since the company released it. This increases security, as a signed driver that has been modified will no longer have an intact signature. Drivers are signed using code signing certificates.

I found out how to allow unsigned drivers in windows 8 or 8.1, the instructions are below.

FYI... this may need to be done each time you update your graphics driver

Part 1

OPTION 1

Open a Command Prompt (Run as Administrator).

On the command prompt type BCDEDIT /Set LoadOptions DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS and enter.
A message will say "Command successful"
Now type BCDEDIT /Set TESTSIGNING ON.

If, for any reason, you want to change back to the default, repeat the steps but with the commands
BCDEDIT /Set LoadOptions DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS and
BCDEDIT /Set TESTSIGNING ON

Restart the computer.

this changes the driver situation to work like in windows 7 and you will still have to allow the unsigned driver to be installed but it won't just automatically cancel the installation.

Option 2

1. Open Settings (move your mouse to the top or bottom right corner of the screen and wait for the charm bar to appear, then click the Gear icon)
2. Click "Change PC Settings"
3. Click "General"
4. Scroll down, and click ‘Restart now’ under "Advanced startup"
5.  
6. Click "Troubleshoot"
7. Click "Advanced Options"
8. Click "Windows Startup Settings"
9. Click Restart
10.  
11. When your computer restarts, select "Disable driver signature enforcement" from the list (on my PC it was option 7)

13. You can now load the unsigned driver and after resetting your computer it should still work.

How to Disable Driver Signature Verification on 64-Bit Windows 8.1

Press the Win + C keyboard combination to bring up the Charms Bar, then click on the Settings Charm.

We need to head into the Modern Control Panel, so go ahead and click on the Change PC settings link.

When the Control Panel opens, switch over to the “Update & recovery” section.

Then click on the Recovery option on the left hand side.

Once selected, you will see an advanced startup section appear on the right hand side. You will need to click on the “Restart now” button.

Once your Computer has rebooted you will need to choose the Troubleshoot option.

Then head into Advanced options.

Then Startup Settings.

Since we are modifying boot time configuration settings, you will need to restart your Computer one last time.

Finally, you will be given a list of startup settings that you can change. The one we are looking for is “Disable driver signature enforcement”. To choose the setting, you will need to press the F7 key.

That’s all there is to it. Your PC will then reboot and you will be able to install unsigned drivers without any error message

Install the latest Samsung drivers: SAMSUNG USB Driver v1.5.33.0

Restart the computer (very important)

Go to Device Manager, find the Android device, and select Update Driver Software.

Select Browse my computer for driver software

Select Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer

Select ADB Interface from the list

Select SAMSUNG Android ADB Interface (this is a signed driver). If you get a warning,   select Yes to continue.

Done!
