Method 1: Follow the suggested steps:
Step1:
a) Open Windows Explorer and then click on
Options and Change folder and search options.
b) Click on the
View tab and uncheck the box that says Always show icons, never thumbnails.
c) Once you get rid of that checked option, you should now get thumbnails for all your pictures, videos and even documents.
Step2: There is one other place that you can adjust the setting for showing icons or thumbnails in Windows Explorer.
Follow steps:
a) Type
Computer on the Start Screen
b) Right Click Computer and click
Properties.
c) Click on
Advanced System Settings on the left side.
d) This will open up the
System Properties dialog.
e) Click on the
Advanced tab and then click on Settings.
f) Make sure
Show thumbnails instead of icons is checked
With these two settings, you should
now be seeing thumbnail previews for pictures, videos, documents, and
other file types in Explorer on Windows 8. If you’re still seeing just
icons perform the below suggested methods.
Method 2: Change View Settings:
a) Navigate to My Documents – Pictures folder.
b) Right click on the window and choose View – Large Icons.
c) Let's see if thumbnails are available now.
Method 3: To Enable or Disable Thumbnail Previews in Visual Effects:
a) Press Windows key + X.
b) Click Control Panel.
c) Click Performance Information and Tools.
d) Click Adjust Visual Effects.
e) Check Show thumbnails instead of icons, and click/tap on
OK.
Method 4: To Enable or Disable Thumbnail Previews in Group Policy.
a) Open Start Screen
b) Type Group Policy and click Settings
c) Click Edit Group Policy
d) Click User Configuration.
e) Click Administrative Templates
f) Click All Settings.
g) Double click/tap on Turn off the display of thumbnails and only display icons to edit it.
h) Select
Not Configured or Disabled.
i) Click Apply and then OK.
