Fix Gnome 3.16 icons too big on desktop
To fix the icon size:
install dconf-editor
In dconf-editor, Navigate to: org > gnome > nautilus > icon-view
change the value for "default zoom level" to small.
Consider changing the default icon size from 64 to 48 in conjunction with this.
