PS3 detects the multimedia server created under Windows 8/8.1, but when click on the windows media server icon the message appears:
Access to the Media Server is not allowed, it is possible that the system name for this PS3 system, has not been registered...
Check the settings for the Media Server
Open Control Panel:
Network & Internet
Then click on Homegroup
if you can see the media server on your console then the first rectangular already allow network discovery.
Then click advanced sharing setting.
Click All Networks
Follow the screenshot, then click Media Streaming Options
Your Media Server should show up in the box. PS3 will register as Unknown Device. That's ok. just
Allow it. then click next
Choose the folder you want to share with your console. Then next
The passcode page doesn't matter for console streaming.
Just click finish. you should be able to enjoy Movies, Pictures, Music.
